Alma Allen

New Monograph published by Rizzoli Electa

June 9, 2020

This is the first volume devoted to artist Alma Allen's work, with newly commissioned photography of Allen's studios in Joshua Tree, California, and Tepoztlán, Mexico—two spaces designed and built by the artist. Texts by Glenn Adamson and Douglas Fogle illuminate Allen's work, which is painstakingly made in foraged wood, sculpted marble, and cast bronze, ranging in scale from minuscule to oversize. These sensuous biomorphic forms are often compared to the sculpture of Brancusi and early-twentieth-century abstraction.
