Mark Ryden and Marion Peck: Book signing at Paul Kasmin Gallery

November 19, 2016

Saturday, November 19th, 2 - 4pm, at 297 Tenth Avenue

Paul Kasmin Gallery invites you to a book signing to celebrate the new edition of PINXIT, by Mark Ryden, published by Taschen; LAMB LAND, by Marion Peck, published by Cernunnos; and ANATOMY ROCKS, featuring Mark Ryden, published by Cernunnos.

Pinxit — whose title refers to the Latin term meaning “painted by,” is organized by the themes of Ryden’s major exhibitions—The Meat Show, Bunnies & Bees, The Tree Show, and so on—and includes collected essays by Yoshitomo Nara, Carlo McCormick, and others, and a new essay by culture critic Kristine McKenna. This sweeping retrospective brings together nearly two decade’s worth of Mark Ryden’s paintings and works on paper, broadening the horizons of his uncanny universe and bringing it to the world, one page at a time.

Lamb Land — A major figure in Pop-Surrealism, Marion Peck is a unique artist on the contemporary scene. Simultaneously inspired by Peter Bruegel and Pee Wee Herman, modern kitsch, and ancient magic, she is the author of a distinctive and considerable body of work over the last twenty years. Containing paintings from throughout her career, new essays and an in-depth interview, this beautiful volume initiates the reader into Marion Peck’s completely unique graphic, poetic, and fantastic world like never before.

Anatomy Rocks: Flesh and Bones in Contemporary Art — A celebration of anatomy, flesh and bone by more than 60 international artists, including contemporary stars (Damien Hirst, Mark Ryden), social network celebrities (Jason Freeny), street art icons (Nychos) and a whole new generation of illustrators.
