FIAT ACCOMPLI Six compressed Fiat sports cars will be mounted on the walls of Paul Kasmin Gallery (515 W. 27th Street, nr. Tenth Avenue; 2125634474) in designer and architect Ron Arad's new exhibit, "In Reverse," on view from February 12 through March 14. This is the exhibition's first showing in the United States, arriving from Pinacoteca Agnelli in Torino, Italy, by was of the Design Museum Holon in Israel (a building designed by Arad himself). Arad created the sculptures (referred to as "pressed flowers") using an industrial press, inspired by his father's nearly fatal car crash while driving a Fiat 500c. The exhibit will include Arad's Restless (2007), a seemingly gravity-defying bookcase of overlapping convex and concave surfaces, as well as a digitally rendered 3-D model of a Fiat. According to Paul Kasmin, the exhibit signifies the "dialogue between handmade and digital processes." There will be an opening reception on February 12 from 6 to 8 p.m.; regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
